His career spans over 4 decades in the French Quarter working for many different club owners on Bourbon Street. Jeff Tyson has become a known fixture on this historic sound stage where many greats before him received their start. JT is known for captivating crowds with his hypnotizing hand motions, leaving people mesmerized by the rhythms of his bass guitar.
Having performed on stages across the world, Jeff Tyson has left an indelible mark on the music scene. Perhaps you caught a quick glimpse of him on HBO’s acclaimed television series Treme or possibly at one of the numerous musical festivals he performed in such as the Ascona Jazz Festival in Switzerland, Gretna Festival, French Quarter Festival, or his residency in Germany and Brazil.
Beyond his mastery of the bass guitar, Jeff Tyson has expanded his influence within the music industry. Currently, he holds the esteemed position of Musical Entertainment Manager for seven popular clubs on Bourbon Street, curating musical experiences for locals and visitors alike. Moreover, Jeff Tyson is the visionary behind Geaux Live Nola, a cutting-edge sound company offering top-notch audio solutions to enhance live performances and special event sound.
Jt’s passions extend beyond his own successes. He and his daughter Domonique Tyson recently established Geaux Live Nola Youth in Music, a non-profit organization dedicated to nurturing young talent and fostering a love for live music entertainment. Through this initiative, aspiring musicians can learn the artistry and intricacies of the industry, ensuring the preservation of New Orleans' rich musical heritage for generations to come.
